Meet Our New Teachers at Oregon-Davis School Corporation!
New Staff Bios:
Amanda Schmeltz (6th grade teacher) graduated from Ball State University this May with her Bachelors of Science. She was raised in Walkerton Indiana and graduated from John Glenn. She still resides in Walkerton with her parents, and her dog. She is getting married next June to her wonderful fiance Rob. She has a passion for literacy and learning. Outside of school she loves to read and work on classic cars.
Elisabeth Caudill graduated from Indiana University South Bend in 2015, and this is her first year of teaching. She is excited to be a part of Oregon-Davis Jr./Sr. High. She will be teaching 10th, 11th, and 12th grade English and Student Publications. Elisabeth does not have any siblings and enjoys time with her family. She also likes to spend time with her dog, Sadie. Elisabeth’s hobbies include basketball, tennis, and reading. She is very excited to start her teaching career at Oregon-Davis.
Jake Hogan studied Biology and Chemistry at Ball State University. While at BSU, Mr. Hogan did undergraduate research work in both cancer biology (T-cell acute lymphoma) and organic chemistry (diamino pyrazols). After his undergrad work, He went back to BSU and pursued a Masters Degree in Secondary Education. He was selected to teach overseas in Baumholder, Germany for 6 months for his student teaching where Mr. Hogan was placed in a freshman class teaching Biology. This will be his fifth year teaching. He is currently engaged to be married in October and enjoys fishing and hunting both pheasant and deer.
Amanda Lester grew up in New Harmony, Indiana, which is located by Evansville, Indiana. She graduated from Ball State University in 2014 and is beginning her first year of teaching. She has helped teach marching band for three years at Monroe Central Jr/Sr High School as well as gave private music lessons. She loves to travel, mostly because she has family all over the United States. She also enjoys crafting and going to Indy11 soccer games. She recently moved to Walkerton and is very excited to work with the high school and junior high bands, especially the pep band during basketball season.
Hannah Shipley is excited to be joining the Oregon-Davis staff. This is her second year in education. She spent her first year at North White. She graduated from Winamac High School in 2009 and earned her degree in Elementary Education and Special Education in 2014 from IUK. One day, she hopes to hold a master’s degree. She enjoys sports, specifically football and softball/baseball, and being outdoors. Hannah and her husband currently live in Plymouth with their dog, Rudy.
Margarita Bope (Her friends call her Magaly). She is so happy to be here. This is her sixth year in education. She worked two years at North White High School and three years at Lacrosse High School. She graduated from Mexico, and she furthered her education at Saint Joseph’s College in Rensselaer. She likes reading and spending time with friends and family. She hopes to encourage the students to do their best. Magaly is married to Dennis and together have Alexandria and Joshua who attend OD High School.
