Can all students take home a computer?
Students in grades 9 – 12 will be taking home computers from the start of school. Students in grades 7 and 8 will take them home after the first 9 weeks is over.

Do I have to use the school provided bag?
When in the school building the school bag must be used. If you want to use a different bag to take the computer home in that bag must be approved before using it.

Does it cost money to take home a laptop?
It does not cost any money to take home the laptop. ALL students that are in 7th through 12th grade will be charged a $60 technology usage fee. This is a part of textbook rental and was approved by the School Board on October 3, 2011

What restrictions will be put in place?
Internet – Students will have the same internet restriction at home as they do at school until 7:00pm. At 7:00pm the students will have a little more freedom with access to appropriate games, social media, video and audio, and other sites deemed appropriate for HS age students.

Usage – Student computers will have a “curfew” set on them. Computer will not function between the hours of 12:00 midnight until 5:00 am. Students will have adequate time to use the computer to complete assignments and to enjoy using the computer while encouraging them to get the rest they need and not waste time online all night.

What happens if the computer is not working or is damaged?
All computers are covered under Apple Care for three years from the purchase time for any hardware related failures (hard drive, memory, logic board, etc). These are consider warranty repairs and there is no charge to the student. Please notify a member of the technology team as soon as possible so that the problem can be fixed. Any damage to the computer due to drops, liquid, abuse, food, or any negligent or accidental damage will be the responsibility of the student whether at home or at school. These things are covered under the insurance policy and will result in a damage fee of $60.
