August 15, 2015, the Oregon-Davis band had the opportunity to participate in the Yellowstone TrailFest.   Great Job by the new Band Director, Ms Lester and the students.

The Oregon-Davis Jr./Sr. High School Band Program consists of two formal concert bands and a pep band.

The High School (HS) Band includes those students in grades 9 – 12.  This group performs top-level literature throughout the course of the year at a variety of events.  Typically this band performs two concerts each semester (Halloween Concert, Holiday Concert, ISSMA Organizational Contest, and Spring Concert).  ISSMA Organizational Contest takes place in April and gives the students a chance to travel to another venue to perform for three judges who critique the students’ performance.  This unique experience is valuable in learning and growing as a musician and student.

The Jr. High (JH) Band includes those students in grades 7 – 8.  This group performs mid-level literature throughout the course of the year at a variety of events.  Typically this band also performs two concerts each semester (Fall Concert, Holiday Concert, ISSMA Organizational Preparation Concert, and Spring Concert).  Some years this group will travel to the Jr. High/Middle/Elementary School ISSMA Contest to be critiqued similarly to the high school students, but even those years we do not travel to contest we hold a concert to perform pieces as though we were being critiqued.

The Pep Band includes all of the students in the HS Band (grades 9 – 12) and select members of the JH Band (grades 7 – 8).  This group performs popular tunes at all boys and girls home basketball games as well as select away games.  A very active group (performing up to 5 or 6 times in a given week), this band is our most visible to the community and plays a crucial role in the overall band program.  In the past this group has had the opportunity to play at the following events: IHSAA Sectionals, Regionals, Semi-State, and State boys and girls basketball tournament games; the Blueberry Festival Parade; and Ancilla College boys and girls home basketball games.  This group is constantly evolving with the ever-changing scope of popular music and multiple new tunes are added to the repertoire each year, which gives students a broad range of musical experience in a variety of styles.
