Oregon-Davis Jr/Sr High School is happy to be moving in a new and positive direction. We have ended our affiliation with the New Tech Network and while we still believe in many of the ideals of that partnership, we are excited to develop our own academic programming and identity. We want to offer the students in our community the best education possible, and that will continue to be our focus. Oregon-Davis has tremendous pride in our community and the people we serve.
Dr. Donald Harman is guiding the entire corporation through a revisioning process that is about building relationships with all stakeholders–students, staff, parents, and community members. We have started a process wherein all staff members have had a voice in how we will work better to educate our children. As we continue to grow this vision, we will continuously ask ourselves what is best for our students. In this regard, staff will be involved in K-12 professional development that will focus on building a strong, viable, and rigorous curriculum. Additionally, we will be implementing a new teacher evaluation system that contains built-in supports to address the individual needs of teachers. The goal is to grow every teacher’s capacity to be a quality instructor of his or her content.
We continue to be an accredited high school through the Indiana Department of Education and AdvancED. We offer a comprehensive program of academic and college preparatory classes as well as vocational opportunities here at school and as part of our vocational co-op. We still focus on Project-Based Learning and continue to offer Project Lead the Way courses. Every student in our building has an electronic device to help enhance the learning experience–7th and 8th graders use iPads and high schoolers are assigned MacBooks. We are striving to develop students for the 21st Century.
Finally, we have implemented a school-wide behavior plan that stresses positive relationships. The cornerstone of this program is this: We Are BOBCATS–Bringing Our Best Character, Attitude, Teamwork, & Scholarship. Teachers are encouraged to write Positive Referrals to recognize students who are doing good things in the classroom and around school Each teacher will also recognize a Student of the Month. We want to continue to ensure Oregon-Davis Jr/Sr High School is a great school that offers meaningful and memorable experiences for our students.
