On October 12, many students from Oregon-Davis had the opportunity to attend the Starke County Economic Development Foundation’s Manufacturers Day. It was a day well spent. Many people from various industries spoke to our students; they sure noticed some recurring themes:
Get that DIPLOMA!
Attendance is important–be there and on time!
Have a positive work ethic–work hard and many of these companies will reward you well!
Have good communication skills!
There are a wide array of jobs in each industry/company–your skills are needed!
Many jobs are ready, willing, and able to offer you more training/education if you exhibit the desire to work hard and do a good job!
Congratulations to our September Students of the Month! Teachers recognize these students for their efforts in the classroom and around the school. Great job everyone!

High school chemistry had a chance to teach fourth graders some spooky chemistry tricks! This was a great way to get students engaged.
Due to unseasonal fall weather that we have been experiencing, the Oregon-Davis Community Service Day has been postponed from Thursday, October 27th to Monday, November 13th. A rain date has been scheduled for Tuesday, November 14th. We believe that a later date will better serve our community once our leaves begin to fall. On Monday, November 13th, various students will utilize this day to give back to our community as the day will focus on raking and removing leaves for our community members that live in our school district. If you or if you know someone who lives in our school corporation who would like their leaves raked and removed, please call our central office at 867-2111 and provide the name and address.
Do you know someone who would like to receive the Bobcat Blast? Please have those individuals contact our Central Office at 574-867-2111 or email Dr. Harman at [email protected]. All that is needed is an email address.
We are proud to announce a new club at OD, the Students Who Achieve Greatness (S.W.A.G) club. These students will be looking for ways to volunteer in the community. They want to make a difference for people in our district and beyond. Please keep on the lookout for S.W.A.G. activities in the future!
How exciting, our very own Hannah Clark coordinated the first ever Rainbow Splash Color Run. She and several other OD students volunteered and ran the event. It was a great success having nearly 70 participants and raising over $2,000 to be donated to Starke County Youth Club. We are very proud of our students who want to make a difference in our community!
OD had a strong presence at this year’s Yellowstone Trail Fest (Aug.15-16). Students did research on the Yellowstone Trail and hobo life. This information was presented in a rolling hobo camp. We appreciate Mr. Brett Byers and the use of his vehicle and trailer for the display and parade! For the first time in many years, the OD band marched in the parade on Sunday, Aug. 16. They represented us well and are looking for other opportunities to participate in local parades and festivals. Good job, Bobcat band!
SEA 114 allows the governing body of a school corporation or the chief administrative officer of a nonpublic school to authorize and excuse the absence of a student or a member of the student’s household who exhibits or participates in the Indiana State Fair for educational purposes. Please notify the Principal or Office Personnel in which your student attends.
