December 11th Board Meeting

This entry was posted in News on by .

On December 11, 2017, The Board of Trustees of the Oregon-Davis School Corporation approved the need for a referendum tax levy be placed on the ballot at the primary election on May 8, 2018.  The public question to be submitted to the voters shall be: For the eight calendar years immediately following the holding of the referendum, shall the Oregon-Davis School Corporation impose a property tax rate that does not exceed twenty-nine cents ($0.290) on each one hundred dollars ($100) of assessed valuation and that is in addition to all other property tax levies imposed by the Oregon-Davis School Corporation for the purpose of funding current and future educational and operational expenditures. If the twenty-nine cent ($0.290) property tax rate is approved on May 8, 2018, the total referendum tax levy will not exceed twenty-nine cents ($0.290).  The current referendum tax levy of nineteen cents ($0.190) will be eliminated and will be replaced by the approved twenty-nine cents ($0.290) property tax rate. The School Board and I appreciate the community input.  The input demonstrated the need for the school corporation to evaluate all cost effective measures involving all operations of the school corporation.  With the partnership of the school corporation evaluating all cost saving measures and the taxpayers passing a twenty-nine cent ($0.290) referendum tax levy, the Oregon-Davis School Corporation will continue to provide the standards of excellence that is valued in the Oregon-Davis community. The Oregon-Davis School Corporation has created a partnership with the Health Centers and the Indiana Rural Health Association (IRHA) that is a blessing for our students!  Our corporation received a grant from the IRHA that has allowed us to implement and maintain a telehealth clinic at no cost to the corporation.  The telehealth clinic is located at our elementary school and is available to all Oregon-Davis School Corporation students.

What is telehealth?

  • Telehealth utilizes telecommunication technology that allows a student to be seen by a healthcare provider without leaving school.
  • Telehealth clinic visits are conducted at the Elementary School in a private room.
  • An on-site medical assistant utilizes special equipment to virtually connect with a licensed healthcare provider.
  • The healthcare provider sees a live feed of what the on-site medical assistant is examining (ears, eyes, throat, skin) as well as listening to (heart, lungs).
  • A parent or guardian’s insurance will be billed for services provided in the clinic.  If a parent or guardian does not have insurance, services provided will be provided on a sliding-scale based on the household income.
  • Attached is a brochure with additional information.

The telehealth clinic is open 7:00 AM – 2:00 PM on days that school is in session.  For a student to receive services in the telehealth clinic, a parent consent form must be signed.  The enrollment form is attached. Forms are also available at each school, on each school’s facebook page, or on our website.

If you have any questions regarding our telehealth center, contact HealthLinc at 1-888-580-1060 or you may contact me at 574-867-2111
